Header tank empties

Posted by hugh jones, on
Issue Stop cock is turned off but over a few days Header Tank empties. That said there are no leaks. The upstairs is all gravity fed from the header tank this is Sink, Bath and Toilet. I noticed this as in summer when away I am paranoid about leaks so shut off at stop cock. I am anxious to know where this water is actually going and must assume as no visible leaks and no pipes form the gravity system beneath the house it must be draining out somewhere through the system. It is an open CH system which has been switched off when stop cock is off. Could it be draining through cistern? I believe I noticed cistern empty when. My next action is to go in loft when water on and then off and monitor fill and level at header tank. Any advice gratefully received.

Could be that either a tap is dripping or that the toilet cistern is letting by after you flush the loo check carefully that the water fully stops going into the toilet pan you can tell if there is any movement on the water in the toilet pan water it’s not uncommon for modern cisterns to let by
