Slow tapping sound from something all night when off

There is a dull constant "tapping" sound coming from somewhere ALL night in the Megaflow cupboard. It happens in the day and when the system is off. . It seems to be coming from the pipe that goes up to the red expansion tank. I can feel it tapping/ light thud/drip when I hold the pipe. I "think" its coming from some strange big black valve looking thing (I have a photo) its got a big grip black plastic knob and what looks like an Allen Key clip holder with Allen key on it.
