Replacing photoresistance photocell on Riello RDS boiler

I have a faulty photocell on my boiler. The lens has been diming for some time now, cleaning it no longer gets the boiler firing again. I have a spare one sitting here and I am considering opening up the panel and swapping the photocells out. I am a software engineer not a hands-on engineer but this seems simple enough from reading the boiler manual. What could go wrong when I try to fix this?
