Damp round window

Posted by Gill Vaughan, on
Just moved home, have old double glazed windows. There is damp in corners on wall. If windows were replaced would this cure damp.

The better the windows , the less ventilation there will be , so no, replacing the windows will make it worse . Condensation is your problem , this is mainly from high humidity .. Look at a fan called a HRV150-12 hour . Google condensation

Hi Gill, Not being able to see exactly where the damp patches are in relation to the windows and being upstairs/downstairs i would just like for you to please be aware that this could also be an issue with the pointing on the external brickwork or a leak from the roof and the water traveling down the cavity wall. THis would have to be investigated as it could be ventilation problems or roof problems with the wall plate. I would expect the damp to be around the windows if they were the cause

Hello Gill, Look closely at the windows you have to see if you have vents in them, if you find they haven't then I suggest you get some fitted. You can get a free survey from this site simply by putting your work decryption on Tradesmen do have to pay for the lead in the hope of getting work, but you're not under any obligation to use them. Regards Michael
