Cracks appearing in walls and ceilings

Posted by Leo Warner, on
We have been in our house for 6 years. Since we moved in there are a small number of cracks appearing in plasterwork on various walls and ceilings throughout the house, and whilst small they appear to be increasing and widening (up to 1mm ins some places). Who should I consult about possible cause and remedy? A surveyor, builder or structural engineer? (The house is an end of terrace, and around 100 years old, but had a loft conversion around 10 years ago. I have a theory this may have slightly changed the structural integrity of the house. It may also be related to vibrations from a railway at the end of the street.)
