Dear Hayley If you are laying mosaic tiles wall have to be sound , flat and smooth. I always use plasteboard to flat and smooth a wall then apply primer and after all is done I lay mosaic tiles and it. also I am using backing mesh to have mosaic tiles strong otherwise mosaic never will be flat on wall Regards Rafal
