Is tiler using suitable adhesive?

Posted by Alex Hunter, on
I have a tiler working on my bathroom this week. Walls are being tiles to the top with 600 x 300 (10mm thick) porcelain tiles. Including in the shower area. He is tiling onto surfaces that were re-skimmed with plaster last week, and appears to have dried. I have noticed that he is using a ready mix tub of Bal Blue Star adhesive for everything, and has not done anything in the way of priming the walls with anything. Should this be ringing alarm bells? The guy has been quite highly rated on check-a-trade etc but I get the impression he is rushing this job. Any advice from the community would be much appreciated. Thanks

Personally I would only use a powder adhesive that you have to mix your self for that size of tile but I would say that a quick phone call to bal technical dept should sort the matter out
