Can you tile over floorboards

Posted by Maria Cooke, on
I have had tiles done in my living room last weekend. They are not finished (grouted) but I'm concerned they have been laid on floorboards

Hi provided the wooden floor was absolutely solid,I.e no loose boards or big gaps in the boards and the proper adhesive was used I.e flexible adhesive you should be ok. Personally I would have boarded the whole area with ply screwed at 300mm centre then tile with flexible adhesive and (flexible) Grout then as it is a high traffic area will never crack or move.
