Will my bathroom wall need re-plastered and tiled?

Posted by Paul Houston, on
I have had a long-term leak behind a shower which has only recently become apparent and the leak fixed.. The shower is fitted on a tiled wall above the bath. On removal of the bath panel the wall below the bath is rotted and will need replastered. Above the bath where it is tiled the only visible issue is a crack in the grouting. However I assume the wall behind is in the same state. The question is will it simply need regrouted as the tiles are fine and the wall will hopefully dry out now the leak has been fixed? Or should the tiles be removed, the wall replastered then retiled? I have an insurance assessor coming next week so it would be useful to be armed with some expert advice as I'm sure he'll be looking for the cheapest option not the proper one!
