Minimum dimensions for cloakroom

Posted by Abby Thomas, on
Hi what are the minimum dimensions for downstairs cloakroom with WC and hand basin? I have a very narrow space so width more important than length.

Dear A When considering applications for conversions, most local authorities have recommended minimum room sizes which planning applications must conform to. However, the rules about sizes are more applicable to social housing and are usually relaxed for private accommodation. Bathroom and WC 3.6m² Bathroom only 2.8m² (or 1m² of circ.) WC only 1.3m² In addition, rooms must always have external windows, with the exception of non-habitable rooms such as kitchens, bathrooms, dining rooms and studies. I hope this can help Best regards Rafal

Hi, there isn't a minimum as such, as long as you have room to get the sanitary ware in and room to move in there when it is done. W.C. is about 400mm wjde by 650mm deep. if there is no window you will need an extractor fan. hope this helps.
