Best way to install wet area for new shower with Geberit wall drain?

Posted by Peter Bradley, on
New shower room being installed. Existing floor is thick limestone tiles on plyboard on top of old wooden floor boards. Thinking of using Geberit wall drain. What's the best thing to do with the limestone in the shower area? Remove? What's the best wet room kit to use ? Can most competent builders do this or requires a specialist? Walls in shower area to be tiled - should use cement board or green board or something else?

Hello Peter, You really need an on site inspection. Put your job onto rated people's site for a free quotation We can all comment on what we should do but there is no better result than a site inspection and it's free. What have you to lose. Please understand that all tradesmen have to pay for your lead -but you are under no obligation to go with any of them I hope this helps. Regards Michael

Hi, you need to take tiles up if ply under is in good condition and 18mm leave it cut ply out where wet floor tray will be nog out floor and fit tray and drain (drain comes with Tray) waterproof floor and tray and up walls about 75mm where wet area is I.E. shower area i would recomend fitting tile backer board and water proof kit available from tops tiles or most good tile shops . If you have not done this before i would get an expert in it is not as easy as it sounds . Regards Alistaie A & M Bathrooms

Hi Peter, Take out the floor up to joists, bring the joists in level and fit the wetroom shower tray . I recommend a tray with linear drain, from foam, easy to cut if require , waterproof . You can use Aquapanel to build the walls . Then you have to lay to walls and floor waterproof matting special designed for this. Can find it to Topps Tiles or any tile shop. Thanks, Cristian
