Shower smell when water turned on

Posted by nick hershman, on
When I use my new shower there is a strange smell. It's not a sewage smell, it's more of a 'chemical' smell. The builders who installed it can't figure out how to solve the issue. I have spoken to two other plumbers neither of whom have an answer. Thanks for your time amd assistance.

Nick hi. What kind of shower is it, elec or tank fed. First check waste pipe for smells by pouring a bucket of hot water down the plug. If electric shower are the cables big enough to take the watts that the shower pulls.? open box and see if any over heating. If tank fed is your header tank clean is there anything in there that could affect the water when heated, take some out and heat it on the cooker to see if you get any smells, don't take from the kitchen tap because that's main fed take it from the tank it self. With out more info that's all the help i can give. Regards Tony
