grout doesnt become porus but it only takes a small crack or piece missing for water to get in 8 times out of ten its the seals around the shower or the tray has become loose

I have a leak in my shower room. I've had the waste pipes replaced and new sealant all-round, it still leaks.
Can the grouting between the tiles become porous ? The shower room is 12 years old and used daily.
