Tiles bathroom floor

Posted by Clare Bacon, on
Newly installed bathroom (1 yr ) ago. The tile grout keeps breaking up and you can feel slight movement in the tiles. Builder states it has been laid correctly and it's my house's fault as it is over 100 years old. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Hi Clare. It sounds like you have movement in the floor boards beneath the tiling, it would be the responsibility of the contractor to have made sure that the sub-floor was secure. It could also be that a poor tile adhesive has been used, or that the floor wasn't clean enough prior to laying the tiles. Either way, I'd think it was the fault of the installer.
