Mid Terrace needs repointing

Posted by Zoey Arato, on
We wallpapered our bedroom 6 months ago and now we have black damp patches appearing on the exterior wall. We've looked outside and we think the pointing needs replacing. How much approx would this cost? Its a mid terrace house.

Hi Zoe. The price bracket is likely to be £35-£50 per square meter depending on the style of pointing you prefer. A typical 2 up 2 down midterrace will have around 40 square meters of brickwork so your price is likely to be between £1, 400 and £2, 000 for both the front and rear elevations. Good luck Nathan

It depends what type of pointing is required, but to take out the old mortar and replace the new you are looking at £55 to £150 per square metre depending on the style of pointing and how difficult the old mortar is to take out.
