I would think it would be lime mortar, or maybe lime mortar concrete, that's a mixture of aggregate sand and lime. I'm sure they used that mixture to build the old tile kilns Best of luck. JC

Mix would likely be: 2 parts washed sharp sand 1 part nhl 3.5 hydraulic lime. Hope this helps
