Floor level

Posted by James Peden, on
In a corner of my front room the floor appears to have dropped by about 1cm. There is no sign of cracking in the walls inside or out. The house was built in 1920. I'm not whether to contact a tradesman or my insurinsurance company first. I've read that if it is subsidence it will be hard to get insurance in the future.

Hi James. Sounds like you might have a dry/wet rot problem. I would advise you get a preservation specilst to have a look at it first. He will probably have to lift some floorboards up to have a look at the joists. Regards Stephen
