What to do when tradesmen do not turn up, not very good at their trade

Posted by john massey, on
I have tried to get various tradesmen to do work at my property in Cornwall and have also gone via rated people etc. We have concluded that most of them seem not to be interested, poor at their trade or simply do not turn up. What is my best way forward now to get the project completed.

Hi John as previously stated always go with a recommendation if possible, if not the next best option is probably this site, you will have the opportunity to look at a tradesman's feedback from previous customers. Also be realistic in your budget, you will never get a Rolls Royce job for Mini money, you just attract the wrong kind. Good tradesmen are always busy be prepared to wait for them to start your job.Hope this helps.Ed

Hello John, I find it hard to understand why you're not sorted with tradesmen on this site. Keep putting your job on this site ITS FREE and I promise you that you will get sorted. Look at there ratings from other people Regards Michael

When seeking a trades person. Say on rated people. Don't be afraid to stipulate initially your previous issues ask for someone with ability and confidence to see the work through. This will means that a large percent of people will disclude themselves. For you that is good. There is also a small percentage of people that thrive on the challenge.I know.I do. Good luck in your area. Donald also if they are confident they will have a load of previous succesfull and happy customers .

Hello John Some good answers here already, ask friends and family for recommendations of tradespeople they have used before and been happy with. Don't forget to check references and don't be afraid to ask for previous customers details , if they are good they won't mind supplying you with them. Mark Surrey Hills Landscaping

Hi John Have you tried going into your local builders merchants and asking them if they can recommend a tradesman. Or any friends and family who have had a good experience with a good tradesman. Don't forget if your only picking the cheapest, they are the cheapest for a reason.... Good luck.

I would second the advice to get a recommendation from a local merchant, for whatever trades you need. Their best customers are the most successful tradesmen. Kind regards Paul
