How do I make extra money?

How do I make extra money? Perhaps I should follow the example set by this company and start ripping all my customers off!? Your thoughts please.

I think some of the experts are missing the point, no one expects a guaranteed job when purchasing a lead but you do expect to be able to make contact with the potential customer otherwise your money has been wasted and you have not received the service you paid for. The tales of improved job information (how many still have a couple of words or a brief sentence) just don't add up and the methods of informing people posting jobs that the trades have to pay for them is just not good enough to prevent people fishing for a rough quote to decide if they should go ahead with a project. All we are asking for is a fair deal.

Hi Ann it's never a good idea to rip your customers off as it tends to upset them quite alot! You will force them to go else where and what will you do for customers then? You will gain a reputation for dishonesty and ruin the chances of gaining new business in the future, so definitely don't follow the example set by this company!

We can't all be wrong. They've even pushed the annual payment plan where you use the credit to buy leads. They already have your money then so wont bother.Ive just took the plunge to go on my own so need a site like this to get my reputation up and running. Come on RP listen to the comments.I even went on to post a job but stopped.I noticed they push you towards the higher price thus ensuring the tradesman pays more to buy

Rated People have never treated there customers right, I don't think they actually know Who there customers are. ( it's not the people who post the jobs, it's the people who buy them) take note Rated People...

We all have the choice of how we market ourselves to get a lead. RP should be part of a tradesman's strategy for getting work - not the whole strategy. I have used other sites like this - and stopped using them because I did not like the way they were run. Anyone feels the same way about RP? Don't use them. Meanwhile spend some money getting a good website, van signwriting, business cards, logo's on work clothing, leaflets, membership of trade organisations, local paper advertising, directories, shop points.... there are so many different ways of marketing - note that some work better for some trades and not for others.

Missed the Point. Top Notch Carpentry. Traders have totally sussed the point of the expert site. Bob a\ job wants help. so the experts tell them. Bob a job gets the advice and the money for the job. Tradesman lose out. Yes we missed the point

Hi Ann,I don't obviously know what you do Ann, but rated works for me, no matter what you do regarding advertising you have to pay for the lead one way or another, the idea is to get repeat business from the lead, or a recommendation from the customer, don't get me wrong I have had my share of wasted leads, just the other day I purchased a near £30 lead, contacted the customer, only to be told he had to consult with his bosses first before allowing me to quote for the job, the fault in that case lay directly with the customer, not with ratedpeople, my point of view was rated had done their job of supplying me with a foot in the door, the customer was not bothered in the least that they had wasted my time and money, but I do now have the customers contact details (which is a buisiness premises), therefore in this case, I will try to turn this negative to a positive by constantly contacting them through email, supplying them with my current offers until get a response. I think most of my wasted leads are due to customers not reading the terms and conditions of posting a job and not possibly being made fully aware that we have to pay money in advance to obtain the chance to quote for their work, I know the rules regarding purchasing leads from rated, it seems to work for me and I still think it is more cost effective than other forms of obtaining work. Cheers Joe Bonner
