Upstairs toilet trickling water into bowl nearly constantly. Still seems to flush and fill ok. It has a round button flush split into full and economy flush

Well it could be that however its could also and is likely to be the seal on the flush mechanism, which means changing the flush (thats the bit inside the cistern)you can but then fir about £12.00

Hi there Either your float valve is set to high resulting on the water level being to high in the cistern, or the inlet valve is passing allowing to much water into the cistern resulting in the overflow, if you require any further help I don't mind talking it over with you on the phone Iain
