I have a toilet cistern that is constantly trickling water down into the bowl. Why is this and will it be a big expensive job to sort out?

if it's a push button then the bottom seal might have gone about 30 mins work and £20 for the part, it may be the fill level set to high but if it's just started and it'sa lever flush it might be the washer on the float valve same time to sort and £1 for a washer
