It could take a few days . If you can see the spot where it’s coming through , poke a hole through the ceiling with a screwdriver to let it through. If left to long your ceiling will deteriorate and need replacing

Graham... it really as simple as how long is apiece of string (pardon the pun!) In the likely event that the shower is used daily, you would expect the water to show within a couple of days. An expection of wall panelling or tiling, silicone seal, and shower trap is needed. J Ireland Plumber
