Call-out Fee

Posted by K Ollivierre, on
I had a leak (emergency) in my bathroom and had to call an engineer out as I thought it was a fault with the boiler as well. He isolated the leak and charged he the following which I am content with: Call-Out Fee: £80 Labour: £50 He said to me that he can come back and repair the pipe at a later date and reconnect it, however he is telling me that the price will be the same as last time. I may be mistaken however, does a call-out fee only apply in emergency cases..? Thanks

Khem... Usually a call out fee is charged in an emergency, due to the quick response time and turn around to eliminate any damage or further damage caused by the plumbing issue To your question, the answer is no. You should no be charged a secondary call-out fee! I for example only charge a call out fee in extreme cases. For example, an emergency call out and 2am on a Sunday morning! I do not charge a general call out fee or an emergency call out fee of any sort, during normal working business hours! I hope this helps! J Ireland Plumber

If he is coming back to make the repair he should quote you a fixed price there shouldn’t be an additional call out fee
