Water coming through upstairs ceiling. Been suggested that some concrete at top of roof needs replacing/repairing as a temp repair. How long will this last?

The concrete, as you put it, takes a heavy battering from the elements but should last 50 years or more, it will always depend on how much movement there is in the roof. The problem with repairs is adhesion, due to too quick drying, always put an adhesive in the cement mix, like latex and you should be fine
