Leaking Roof

Posted by Rhonda Wood, on
Returning after the Christmas holidays I have found my roof leaking. It is an inverted valley roof and was replaced about 15-20 years ago but by the previous owners. the felt appears to be wet and water dripping in from several palces, perhaps runing down to the lowest point near the valley and then finding its way in. the ceiling in two rooms is currently affected. i am trying to work out my options. should i try a short term fix painting something like roofix on the inside- the cheaper option? or get someone to quote. I am worried that the second option will be very costly and will involve taking the slates off and re-felting the whole roof. What do you think?

Hello Rhonda, Needs to be seen. The service in getting advice/survey is free so you should use it. Tradesmen pay for the opportunity to quote on your job. It is important to give tradesmen contacting you the opportunity to do so, the advice you receive is free. You are not obliged to use any of them. Regards Michael

Hi Rhonda, I wouldn't recommend the short term fix, roofs cannot be properly sealed from the inside, you should get around 3 quotes for the works ( this can be done through rated people web site) to get a better idea of the average costs involved. The roof was done 15-20 years ago so may well be showing signs of age and needs replaced. Graham Graham Pow Specialist Roofing
