Grip roof expansion

Posted by Paul Rasheed, on
I have a flat grp roof (replacing a felt one) the sides of which come down over a plastic fascia. A gap has now appeared between the two in several places, exposing the roof void. The roof was put on about 4 years ago and measures about 44sq meters. What can I do to correct this? I wondered whether I could screw the grp on to the fascia, but would expansion cause more problems?

Hello Plastic has a very high expansion rate , GRP probably expands also , in the large area you mention, so yes, expansion or incorrect fixings is probably causing your problem , could even be the roof moving slightly with expansion . Joining the two together could cause more problems . There is an adhesive black foam tape used on industrial buildings tin roofs [ about 1 inch thick ] that could be used in the gap. Hope this helps Peter R. Beamish Const. Services.

Hi Paul Everyone has knowledge to respond to a question but every trade person can do a job in different way. We always recomend to post a job on main website because some of a job needs to be seen bedore any advice is given. Our service is free of charge with no obligation quote and our tradesmans are happy to help with every aspects of jobs. I would strongly recomend to post a job on Rated People home page then 3 companies will get in touch then you would be able to choose the right person as you would receive an e mail with a link to tradesman account where you would see a pictures and you will read revious from previous customers. I hope this will help Best regards Rafal
