Chimney flashing-back gutter

Posted by James Burford, on
I had the rear lead gutter replaced by a roofer from this site, its been leaking lately and i have noticed that where the back lead gutter turns around the corner to meet the side flashing the lead is split/cut at the corner to aid in shaping the lead. Should there be any splits? or any situation where this may be acceptable? the roofer said it can be like this or done in one piece. He said the soakers will prevent leaks. I'm somewhat sceptical. I have some photos

Hi James. Lead lined gutters can have joints in them, provided they are moulded and sealed properly. If there is anything that appears to be an obvious 'split' then there should be concern. Lead is a very pliable metal and can be dressed/moulded to accommodate corners. Hope this helps

Dear James We always recomend to post a job on main website because some of a job needs to be seen before any advice is given. Our service is free of charge with no obligation quote and our tradesmans are happy to help with every aspects of jobs. I would strongly recomend to post a job on Rated People home page under roofers cattegory or general builders then 3 companies will get in touch then you would be able to choose the right person as you would receive an e mail with a link to tradesman account where you would see a pictures and you will read revious from previous customers. I hope this will help Best regards Rafal
