The moss acts like a sponge - it will hold water, (& weight), on your roof. It can also grow under tiles - this may also encourage water ingress. The growth, (rooting), of the moss will also delaminate the roof tiles.

Yes it will hold water and overtime it will rot your tiles if you have them
