Building Notice Application not applied for.

Posted by Simon Minnican, on
As a nurse, I have much experience of regulations regarding health care but have no idea about building regulations. However, I had contracted a builder through ratedpeople.com to replace my roof several months ago and today have received a letter from my council planning department saying that they have no record of a building notice application being made. They want me to submit an application in retrospect. However, I now fear that thermal requirements from part L of regulations haven't been complied with. What on earth do I do next?

Firstly speak to your builder and find out what he has to say, then you have some idea how to move forward . Speak to the building control dept and ask for a site meeting so they can inspect the work as it may comply. Surprisingly lots of builders don't realise that a reroofing jobs has to be inspected and passed for building regs (not an excuse just a fact )

What would you like to do now?
