We have recently had our roof re-tiled. Since, we have noticed that inside the loft here is evidence of water under the ridge and in some places at the hip. I've been up on the roof and noticed that the kit they have used (Marley Dry Hip and Ridge System) however there are obvious gaps under the hip support tray where they have not fitted small skews. This alone would make me think that water is going to seep in at these points.
Secondly, I have noticed that the hip system finishes short of the apex of the roof by about half a meter. Our hip is 6 .5 meters long and I think the kits come in 3m packs so its obvious to me what has happened here. This is the point where most water is evident.
Having got a second opinion, I have been told that the hip system and tiles have been cut and fitted poorly not mention a series of other issues. The hip system is barely tied down and the top cap has just been resined on rather than clipped into the kit as it should.
The roofer I got to give me a second opinion suggested I ask the original roofer to fit a hip fast and ridge fast system which is a bit more forgiving to install and will allow some of the poorly cut/ none existing tiles to be covered as the 300mm wide rolls drape will be more than sufficient to span the gap between tiles.
Any advice here?
