Guarantee

Posted by shay vaughan, on
A builder has completed some work and given me a five year guarantee. The work is not fit for purpose in that the roof is at the wrong pitch so the tiles do not do their job correctly. There are also other problems such as the felt being too tight no plastic between the tiles and the guttering. the list goes on. Can I get another roofer in to complete the work and bill the original builder using their guarantee?

Hi You could get another roofer in to look over the work the previous roofer has left and have it rectified by the new roofer. As for billing the previous roofer on this I'm unsure of, yes you do have a case here but how easy it is to ask what your asking depends fully on your first roofer and how they care for you after paying for the job. I'd personally get a list of what you think is wrong and back it up by another roofer agreeing to this and present it to your first roofer and try and work out things from there. I hope this helps

Hi, If you are having issues with the previous contractor I'd arise these with them and ask to alter, if they don't if contact trading standards, or get another contractor in to give a quote to put right and take to small claims.

What would you like to do now?
