Damp in loft

Posted by Kam Rana, on
We noticed a leak in our loft as the chimney wall was visibly wet. Unsure if how long this was there as only looked as signs of condensation on windows. We had this repaired and over summer no visible issues of further leaks or condensation. However since weather colder condensation is backs and seems worse. The loft roof timber has patches that seem darker and stained. No viable leaks anywhere. Could this be damp in roof and contributing to condensation. What would we need to do?

Hi kam I’ve came across this problem a lot what I would do is install at least six tile or slate vents into your roof make sure your insulation is not touching the felt at eaves level as this will sweat warm and cold meeting and if your ceilings are vaulted at the very bottom might need insulating the only other thing it might be is your walls are 9” solid walls with no cavity wall insulation

What would you like to do now?
