Leaking from kitchen extractor fan

I live in an 1850s cottage and have noticed a slow drip, drip, drip coming from my kitchen extractor fan. The fan itself is old and fitted into a chimney breast and I don't what sort of fan it is. The leak started in heavy persistent rain and slows / stops when the rain does, is this likely to be rain coming down the chimney or some sort of ingress?

Hi sounds like you have an open chimney pot letting in rain,probably needs a cowl fitting into pot to stop rain getting in
