Chimney bangs in wind

Posted by Stephanie Frost, on
Another wind related question: the inside of the chimney in the loft bangs really really loud in high winds. Seems to be the metal or something moving in the wind which causes this (from looking in the loft). Any way to fix this?

It sounds like sorry the pun you may have a metal liner in the chimney which would have run a old gas boiler or wood stove .If the chimney is open at the top and does not have the gas terminal in tack this could be the prob . The only way going forward would be to get up on the chimney stack and look down .Mark
