Craig did a quality job. He was very helpful removing objects which were obstructing his job himself. Craig always communicated with me on various aspects of the project. And the price was good too. I would recommend A C Electrical to anyone without hesitation.

Great job done by Craig and his team. We left them to it and went to Cornwall for a week and Craig text me when they had finished. Minimal damage to walls which was greatly appreciated.

Craig and his team were first class at all times. From the quick response to my job posting to coming back when other building works were finished in my house (weeks after his firm had rewired the entire house). The team were courteous and advised me of progress and options whenever asked. Great job, on budget, on time. I will always recommend Craig.

Mark Raven-Smith's question

I have a issue on my downstairs sockets. It's also runs my boiler upstairs strange.. Today the boiler stopped, no power to neutral. Live and earth are OK. I'm stuck. Any help possible please?

Hi Mark, If the boiler is upstairs and is fed from the downstairs sockets then usually you would be able to see the cable going from the boiler to the socket it has been fed from downstairs. Possibly surface mounted in PVC trunking. If all the sockets downstairs are working then the break in the circuit must either be at the point the boiler has been fed from the downstairs sockets or behind the fuse spur adjacent to the boiler. If you are confident enough to have a look I would suggest turning off the power at your consumer unit and checking all connections at both points if possible. Failing that I think you may need to seek professional advice.

Stan Laird's question
Thu 4 Oct 2018 17:28pm

Just bought a new chrome spotlight which has the live and neutral wires connected to a plastic block. The earth wire is connected to the metal fixing plate and not to the centre slot in the block. I have all three existing wires, Live, Neutral and Earth coming out of the wall Do I leave the new earth wire connected to the fixing plate or move it to the centre slot of the plastic block? Do I still fix the existing old earth wire to the plastic block if I leave the new earth attached to the fixing plate? Thanks for your help.

Hi Stan, if you only have 3 cores (live neutral and earth) coming from the ceiling (ie no additional permanent lives) then you could connect both the earth cable from the light and the earth cable coming out the ceiling to the spare terminal you mentioned. Alternatively, you could connect the earth from the light to the earth coming out the ceiling in a separate connector block. As long as the metallic light is connected to the earth in the cable coming from the ceiling it will be fine.
