Tom, good workmanship is not guaranteed by joining a governing body. Your argument that the governing body underwrite work is insignificant. Just because a good may look ok, doesn't mean that it is. Cables and terminations are often hidden away out of sight. So don't be mislead. There is NO WAY at all to guarantee a high standard of work. Best way to get a good electrician is to use one that has been recommended. From experience, most of the sparks that are part of a governing body are poor, and use "but I'm in a governing body" as a cloak to hide behind. Regards.
