Carpet Fitters
This guy is the business, one of the best tradeys I came across in my project and would recommend to others.
Carpet Fitters
Carpet Fitters
If I could give zero stars I would. We agreed a day and time, then 19:07 the night before he says he hasn't heard from me so won't be coming. Lies. I confirmed and gave the address and said I would contact if there was a problem my end (which I didn't as there isn't). Am away from the afternoon of the job and he has left me with tenants moving into a place without a carpet! Don't use this guy if you want a job actually done when promised.

That's right you did say you would contact me and you didn't i was just checking as i had heard nothing how would i know that there was nothing wrong i would have phoned you but you put in advert that all phone calls would be ignored .

I did contact you. I said "Thursday will be OK unless the tenants can't do that. I will let you know if they can't". As the tenants were fine I did not message as I said I would do that if there was a problem. I confirmed 10:00 and you said 10 - 12. You then asked me for the address which I gave you. You basically did not read the response properly and / or have a bigger job now so dropped this one. I have responded nearly instantly to every single message, and that's how I told you to contact me!

You have acted totally unprofessionally and are trying to divert the blame away. Read the message trail again. We agreed a day and time and you have the address. You basically left me up the creek by not turning up today as I am going away for a week this afternoon with no way of getting the carpet fitted before the new tenants move in. Thanks a lot - NOT

This job was booked and agreed 5 days ago. If you were genuinely in doubt about, why not send a message 24 hours earlier when there was still plenty of time to react? You messaged me after 7pm the night before the (10 am) job which left me no time to get someone else in. Others reading this might well suspect that you have just dropped this small job in favour of a more lucrative one. Whatever the real reason, you have left me in a position where one of the conditions of taking the tenancy has been broken.

To be fair and transparent to all, I have cut and pasted the chat regarding confirmation (after agreeing the day, but before you then asked for the address and confirmed that you would be there from 10 to 12): "[me] I will be there arriving at 10am. The tenants should be OK for Thursday (they were fine for Wed and are moving out) but I will let you know Tuesday afternoon if they can't make this time." You did not get a message on Tuesday afternoon because there was no issue, so you should have done the job

I never said i was not coming today Thursday i put in the message that as i never heard from you i took it that the job was a know go then you replied with the address' I was all set to come today but you decided to jump the gun and post that rating which is rubbish all you had to do was reply to that message and say all good for tomorrow and i would have done your job as arranged i had no other jobs as you put it I'm 73 years old i only do small jobs now.

What you actually said (direct from the chat) was:" Evening Tim not heard anything from you regarding whether or not the fitting of the landing carpet is going ahead tomorrow so will take it that It's a no go regards Robin." That's fine, but you did not reply after 90 minutes and by then I had no idea what the state of play was. I replied within 6 minutes but heard nothing back, As you said the job was off I left the appropriate feedback having been terribly let down. For the record, I am retired too.

My earlier point remains - why didn't you message the day before if you were in doubt?
- TRADESPERSON, 7/08/2025 12:28
Ihave a daughter going through cancer and she is a single parent she needed help picking up her daughter and as my wife is in Canada visiting her sister with dementia it was left to me to go and pick her up sometimes my mind is somewhere else and I forget to do things at the right time I'm not asking for any sympathy but it would have been easier for me if I didn't have to keep looking at this computer to see if there were any messages I'm old school I don't have an i phone so that's the reason.

Understood. I don't have a mobile phone at all and refuse to get one. With respect, it may be better for you to not take on these jobs rather than have this sort of reaction. It's no good for you, and it's no good for the potential customer. Life is stressful enough without these unnecessary hassles.
