50% of the job as a deposit to secure a job and 50% when finishing Is usually expected.
Of course there are Exceptions for different jobs.

Partition Wall
Gary was brilliant on this job. I wasn't entirely sure the best way to approach taking down the wall, but with his help we made a plan and he worked long days to get it finished and even made sure all the small details were perfect. Was a pleasure and will call him again whenever I need more work done in the house.
Home Maintenance / Repair
It took him 2.5 days to install a new kitchen tap. Issues he struggled with: connection to a boiling water machine, no isolater valves, 40’ waste pipe and the hot and cold supply pipes were mixed up (lots of moaning about the previous builders), many trips to screwfix and parts purchased that were not required; in that time he did also change a Yale barrel lock.

Gary is a very friendly person, very professional and excellent craftsman. Very helpful and knowledge. I would definitely recommend and I have several more jobs in the pipeline that I would like him to do for me.
