Unfortunately not, the only way to tell if there is plumbing pipe work within the wall is to cut an acc Sds hatch where your new shelf is to be situated. Unfortunately you'll also have the job of refix on wall. I would highly recommend purchasing a sensor, you can pick them up reasonably priced from your local Screwfix. JIRELAND PLUMBER
