Lynette... you have every right to refuse full payment until you have a satisfactory fully completed job, if you have stuck to your initial contractual terms, whether these were verbal or in writing. With regards to his threatening behaviour, no tradesperson of whom offers their services to the general public should conduct themselves in this manner. I would take this matter up with your local police station and trading standards office, if you do feel threatened and intimidated, and also if the works have not been completed to your promised high standards.
