We have just dealt with an identical case in maidstone. The rain was penetrating the brickwork and running down the cavity onto the concrete beam above the porchway opening then into the ceiling. We re pointed the area, fitted cavity trays above the porch roof then finally watersealed the masonry once the pointing was dry. I hope this helps
Hi Steve as the other tradesmen have said its hard to diagnose the problem without Taking look, my advise would check all flashings any masonry above the problem area Or possibly do some water test with a hose pipe and a professional persons to assist you Good luck sorry I'm sorry I cannot be more help Regards Liam Aplin

Water can be a nightmare, it could be getting in 10 feet away and tracking to the lowest point or first outlet , ie light fitting , to be perfectly honest I would need to see this to give you an honest opinion , regards Andy
