Hello Brian, Interesting question and I'm asked it a lot. You have to do your home work on researching them. 1) Ask to see a copy of insurance details. 2) Ask to speak to the last customer they worked for 3) Ask if they have a web site 4) Look at the ratings they have received. A guarantee is only as good as the company. Regards Michael

Dear Brian We always recomend to post a job on main website Our service is free of charge with no obligation quote and our tradesmans are happy to help with every aspects of jobs. I would strongly recomend to post a job on Rated People home page then 3 companies will get in touch then you would be able to choose the right person as you would receive an e mail with a link to tradesman account where you would see atheir profile pictures , insurance and skills also you will read reviews from previous customers. I hope this will help Best regards Rafal

Hi Brian, As Matthew points out, we would advise that you ask your tradesman for proof of relevant qualifications prior to allowing them to start work on your home. Also, once a tradesman purchases the chance to quote on your job, we email you a link to their individual profile page, which comes complete with previous customer recommendations to help you decide who to hire. We would ask that you also ask he/she for details of previous customers to contact yourself or ask to view a portfolio of previous work to give you added peace of mind. Best Wishes, Natalie The Ask an Expert Team

Hello Brian I can't speak for others but if you were to pursue a quote from.me you'd be shown my technical credentials and certificates as well as professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Along with ratings, I'd like to think this would offer the assurance your seeking. Hope this helps Matthew
