Our quote was higher than others as we quoted to coat the stairs three times with a high quality varnish because they were in such a bad way, however the customer did not want to pay for this so we kindly matched the other quote, and this was only to put one coat of mid range varnish on. As with all previously painted low grade pine to achieve a good even finish you need to build on the layers and this customer did not want to pay for this. On finishing this job we had advised the customer that additional coats were needed and offered to do them at a reduced price. The flooring as mentioned by the customer is good and we also matched a lower quote for this.

I've given 4 stars for reliability - but that was only because covid-19 interrupted. Other than that, James came up with a design that I liked, and he and his his guys did a great job making it work. James did a really good job for the house we’d just bought. The floors were all painted and really ugly, and he sanded them back to the wood and left them looking really nice. He even returned free of charge to fix a problem of “grain raising” which had left the boards a bit rough to the touch and occurred a few days after he’d finished, due to moisture in the space. He was friendly, considerate and empathic, a really pleasant guy to have around and to be involved in our renovation project.
