Is it economical to repair my flat's electric oven

Posted by Richard Cosgrove, on
The heating element in my flat's electric oven is drooping. I'd like to know if an element like this could be replaced, or whether it'd be better to have a new oven? Besides making cooking awkward, I'm concerned the element might become a safety risk, as the droop seems to be getting worse. The links below are to photos I've taken of the inside of the oven. The oven is an SDR, model "E60 Deluxe". It's old, and I haven't got a manual for it. And I can't see its serial number. The oven is likely 10 years old at least. Thanks.

You old oven could be repaired properly but might not be as energy efficient as a new A++ oven, so the choice is yours. Buying a new oven can be expensive, equally repairing an old oven can be costly in the long run, as the newer oven would probably be more energy efficient - hence using less energy to cook.
