No one is perfect, but this guy is. Not only was he always punctual, reliable, helpful and friendly but he offered alternatives, which I quickly accepted, went out of his way to complete tasks that were not part of the job. Very conscientious young man, talented and hardworking and so, so patient. I would not hesitate to have him work for me again and he is highly recommended. BEST KITCHEN FITTER and ALL ROUNDER EVER. I am really pleased with his work. I have my dream kitchen.

What type of tradesperson do you need?

What type of job is it?

Specialist Services - what you need to know

There’s a huge range of specialist tradespeople who can help you with whatever you need. It doesn’t matter how niche it is, we’ve got it covered.

In many circumstances, if you’re having substantial work done on your home, a builder or project manager will take care of all the individual tradespeople needed to complete the whole job. However, if you’re taking on some work yourself, you might still need some specific help from someone who’s qualified and experienced. For example, you might be confident enough to do some work to your roof, but you need scaffolding put up to get the job done.

What a specialist tradesperson can help with

  • Air conditioning and refrigeration.
  • Damp proofing.
  • Fireplaces.
  • Scaffolding.
  • Thermal insulation.
  • Sound proofing.
  • Aerial and satellite dishes.
  • Brick and stone cleaning.
  • Cellar and basement conversion.
  • Demolition.
  • Digital home networks.
  • Disabled access and mobility services.
  • Sound and audio visual installation.
  • Timber preservation, woodworm and rot.
  • Underfloor heating.
  • Waste removal.
  • Whole internal refurbishment.
  • Stored gas or oil.

Maybe you’re redecorating, but you need some help installing a sound system where the cables are all neatly hidden. Maybe you want a fireplace installed too – whatever niche trade you need, you should find it here.

Here’s some info on the more common ones.

Air conditioning

Air conditioning is an increasingly popular bit of work to have done. Although the climate in the UK is fairly temperate, when it’s hot… it’s HOT. Read a bit more about your air conditioning options on our blog.

Damp proofing

If you’ve ever had damp in your home then you know how stubborn, unsightly and unhealthy it can be. So it’s always best to get it dealt with promptly and professionally. Rising damp, dry rot and wet rot are the most common instances of it – check out our 5-part guide to damp problems, which will help you get on top of it.

Fireplaces

Fireplaces and wood burners are definitely making a comeback, with their hearty warmth a real treat in the winter months. Find out which fireplace is right for you, as well as how to restore a fireplace.

Thermal insulation

If you find it difficult to keep your home warm in the depths of winter, you might need some extra insulation. Thermal insulation keeps heat from escaping too much, and it means you don’t have to keep the heating on all the time.

Scaffolding

Scaffolding needs to be put up by experienced teams to ensure it complies with all health and safety standards. It needs to have enough strength, rigidity and stability for the job to be completed safely. Make sure you use a professional if you need to do some work on your home that can’t be done with a ladder.

Sound proofing

There’s nothing worse than a noisy neighbour, unless it’s you, in which case you’re probably having fun… but either way, sound proofing might help you out. Have a look at how to get started with sound proofing here.

Insurance for any specialist tradesperson

As ever, anyone working on your home should have public liability insurance, which will cover you and them if someone gets hurt or if the property is damaged.
