Painting over putty

Posted by chris bradley, on
Can I paint over putty? Not the type that holds the glass on but the putty they've used to hold an entire new window frame in. I'm looking at painting the masonry around the windows to smarten it all up. Wondering if it's okay and won't harm the putty? Many thanks

The 'putty' you mention is either acrylic frame sealer, which can be painted or silicone sealant which can't. In either case you won't do any damage, the paint will just fall off silicone in time.
