Audible-only alarms
These traditional systems trigger a loud external and internal siren when activated, but do not automatically contact anyone. Dialler burglar alarms

Smart home security systems
Smart systems connect directly to your home Wi-Fi and alert you instantly via a smartphone app. They allow you to arm, disarm, and monitor your security from anywhere in the world. Monitored systems require a monthly contract and strict compliance rules: you must nominate at least two keyholders who live within 20 minutes of the property, have their own transport, and know how to operate the system. This company was a nightmare to deal with. I have never experienced such amateur and inefficient work. They spent more time getting “ materials “ than actually doing the job. The bathroom renovation should have taken 2 days. Admittedly there were a few unforeseen problems. But basically just taking out and refitting sink and toilet. Their workmen were awful. They took over twice the time they should have. Also they never finished. The bath is still leaking. The sealant finish is amateur
