Responded very promptly to my ad and came within days to start the job. They had to order special materials, and Xmas and New Year intervened, but once the holiday was over, they were back at the task. Right from the outset Steve installed confidence in me, his quotation for the work required was not only precise but was exceptionally competitive and fair. As pensioners we have had experience of greedy local tradesman. Steve and his crew arrived on time and carried out the work in a considerate and timely fashion,. They were clean and considerate in the way they worked. Completing the job on time and on budget. I have no hesitation in recommending his services.
Our quote was higher than others as we quoted to coat the stairs three times with a high quality varnish because they were in such a bad way, however the customer did not want to pay for this so we kindly matched the other quote, and this was only to put one coat of mid range varnish on. As with all previously painted low grade pine to achieve a good even finish you need to build on the layers and this customer did not want to pay for this. On finishing this job we had advised the customer that additional coats were needed and offered to do them at a reduced price. The flooring as mentioned by the customer is good and we also matched a lower quote for this.

After giving us a very reasonable quote the job then turned out to be far more difficult than we all first thought, but the end price was still extremely reasonable given the work that had to be done. The end result and work quality is top notch, Hugh is a real professional and totally trustworthy. We will be employing him again for the rest of our house.
