Households ‘should go for it with kitchen designs’

Britons looking to overhaul their kitchens should “go for it” when it comes to the design. This is according to Matrix Kitchens, which has suggested if people are investing in home improvements, they should not compromise on what they want.

Graham Barnard, owner of the firm, said that some people “want a modern kitchen, but worry that it will not work in their period home, so water down their designs”. However, he advised against doing this as such renovations can be expensive and added that people should decide what they want and realise it when redecorating kitchens.

Regarding kitchen design trends, the specialist said that he expects to see warmer and more sophisticated styles coming into fashion, such as “shiny surfaces, cool greys [and] warm woods”. Another kitchen style becoming more popular is taupe, according to interior designer George Bond, who described it as “absolutely fantastic” in such spaces.
