Setting the right budget

How much should you expect to pay?

We know it's difficult to estimate how much a project will cost, that's why we've surveyed our tradesmen to give you an idea of how much you should expect to pay for specific jobs. Tradesmen all across the country have contributed to the cost guides, so the costs you see are an approximate national average.

Low High
Handles £40 £60

If your door handles on your front or back door are not functioning correctly then a carpenter or other tradesman should be able to assist with any of the number of potential problems that may be occurring. If the handles are coming away from the door then they may need to be removed and the screw holes patched up or moved slightly.

The mechanism inside the handle may also need repairing or lubricating, especially if this also operates the door’s locking system. In extreme cases, where your tradesman cannot repair the handle, then the door handle may need to be replaced. The choice of handle will dictate the cost of the job in this case, as there are a huge variety of handle types available. Otherwise, the cost will be based upon the time it takes to make the repair

Rated People surveyed 83 of our carpenters and joiners across the country to give you an idea of the approximate costs for a range of work on external doors. We also asked about internal doors.

Please note these prices are average, do not include materials and are offered as guidance only, to help you budget when posting a job on Rated People. For a free quote tailored to your specific requirements, please contact our local carpenters and joiners.
